Reports an ambient atmospheric condition relevant to equipment operation.

## What it represents

Reports an ambient atmospheric condition relevant to equipment operation.
In a drafting package, connect this reference to the ambient sensor, location and measured parameter. The associated drawing should trace the environmental alarm or operating permission; the number identifies the role and does not specify the terminal arrangement, ratings or operating settings.

## How to read it

- Identify the ambient sensor, location and measured parameter.
- Trace the environmental alarm or operating permission.

## Information to show or reference

- Label the ambient sensor, location and measured parameter.
- Cross-reference the environmental alarm or operating permission.
- Identify the device tag, manual revision and logic drawing that define this implementation.

## Important distinction

The number is a broad environmental function; the legend must identify humidity, smoke, gas or another actual parameter.

## Facts

- ANSI / IEEE function number: 45
- Drawing context: The ambient sensor, location and measured parameter
- Application scope: Protection or apparatus-control role; exact implementation is defined by the equipment documentation.
