Soft starter
A soft starter controls motor starting through power-electronic switching.
In plain English
A soft starter controls the electrical supply during motor starting to reduce the abrupt change associated with a direct start. It does not provide the same continuous speed control as a variable-speed drive.
In a switchroom services system, a soft starter can bring a large ventilation fan up to speed more gradually.
Use the selected manufacturer's drawings to check the equipment's size, mounting points and cable connections. The layout helps you plan where it fits and how it can be reached for maintenance. An illustrative 3D preview does not establish product dimensions or required clearances.
