Understand the difference.

Compare the meaning, drawing context and source references of two entries. A similar graphic or shared abbreviation does not establish equivalence.

ANSI/IEEE conductor junction symbol

In ANSI-style schematics a solid dot at the meeting of conductors indicates an electrical connection. Unlike some IEC practice, readers in this convention often treat any crossing without a dot as not connected and expect a dot even on tees, so the dot carries more weight than it does on IEC drawings.

Form evidence
Solid junction dot. Drawn from the publisher's wire connection guidance and IEEE drafting context; no equivalence of every detailed standard graphic is asserted.

A distinction that matters

The junction dot shows connection; the ANSI crossing hop shows deliberately unconnected conductors.

Conductor connection junction

A junction indication marks a documented electrical connection between conductor branches. The junction is a drawing connectivity statement: the branches belong to one connected electrical network at that point. It is different from a hardware splice which may have its own material and installation record.

A distinction that matters

A crossing line is not necessarily a connected conductor.
