Understand the difference.

Compare the meaning, drawing context and source references of two entries. A similar graphic or shared abbreviation does not establish equivalence.

ANSI/IEEE impulse tachometric dynamo symbol

The impulse form represents a speed transducer whose output is a pulse train, for example a magnetic pickup reading gear teeth or a pulse generator on the shaft. The receiving device counts pulses, so the number of pulses per revolution is the scaling factor that must accompany the symbol.

Autodesk IEEE-oriented Instrumentation and Sensors form: Tachometric Dynamo - Impulse. Autodesk publishes this block under its IEEE Symbol Preview. The counterpart is the matching functional concept in the library; no equivalence of every detailed standard graphic is asserted.

A distinction that matters

An impulse transducer outputs a pulse rate; a tachometric dynamo outputs an analogue voltage.

Impulse tachometric transducer. Autodesk IEC-60617 Symbol Preview — Instrumentation and sensor family reference; vendor family reference, not certified IEC geometry or database identifier.

A distinction that matters

A pulse output must not be treated as a continuous analogue speed voltage.
