IEC analogue multiplier element

An analogue multiplier element produces an output proportional to the product of its inputs, usually scaled by a fixed factor such as one tenth of a volt per volt squared. IEC-style diagrams draw it as a rectangle with a multiplication mark; TI's logic overview uses the Greek capital pi as the multiplier qualifier in the digital context.

Form evidence
Rectangular analogue element with a multiplication function mark. IEC-style rectangular analogue element presentation; the IEC graphical symbols programme is cited for context only. Independent educational drawing; not certified IEC geometry or an IEC database identifier. The counterpart is the matching functional concept; no equivalence of every detailed standard graphic is asserted.

A distinction that matters

A summing element adds signals; the multiplier forms their product.

A distinction that matters

An analogue multiplier processes continuous quantities; it is not a binary full-adder or a simple AND gate.
