ANSI/IEEE thermometer/pyrometer symbol

Pyrometer indication is used where temperatures are too high for ordinary thermometers, such as furnaces, kilns and exhaust gas. The instrument is commonly fed from a thermocouple or an optical radiation sensor, so the input wiring and any cold-junction compensation must be shown with the instrument.

Autodesk IEEE-oriented Instrumentation and Sensors form: Thermometer/Pyrometer. Autodesk publishes this block under its IEEE Symbol Preview. The counterpart is the matching functional concept in the library; no equivalence of every detailed standard graphic is asserted.

A distinction that matters

The pyrometer form signals a high-temperature indicator; the general thermometer form covers ordinary temperature indication.

A distinction that matters

A temperature display symbol does not determine whether the measurement uses contact or non-contact sensing.
