Busway tap-off connection

This symbol shows a tap-off unit plugged into the busway, with the outgoing circuit leaving through a fuse or circuit breaker in the unit. On single-line diagrams it replaces the board-and-feeder pattern used for switchboards, since the busway itself acts as the distribution bus.

Plug-in busway

Plug-in busway distributes power along its route through outlets into which tap-off units can be inserted. It is common in rising mains in multi-storey buildings, factory floors and data halls, where loads change and new feeders are added without rewiring.
