Understand the difference.

Compare the meaning, drawing context and source references of two entries. A similar graphic or shared abbreviation does not establish equivalence.

ANSI/IEEE capacitor symbol

The capacitor form identifies a capacitive component between its circuit connections. Its value and voltage rating are read from the component annotation, and the circuit placement establishes whether its role is filtering, coupling or another documented function.

Form evidence
Autodesk IEEE-oriented Capacitive Components functional form. Autodesk explicitly publishes this block under IEEE Symbol Preview. The counterpart is the matching functional concept; no equivalence of every detailed standard graphic is asserted.

A distinction that matters

A generic capacitor form does not establish polarisation or an electrolytic construction.

Capacitor

A capacitor representation identifies a capacitive component or arrangement in a circuit. Polarised, non-polarised, adjustable and other variants need the appropriate representation and annotations. In power drawings a capacitor bank is a system assembly, rather than merely a scaled-up generic component mark.

A distinction that matters

A capacitor-bank representation does not identify every component of the assembled bank or establish its switching duty.
