A useful reference.
A clear source trail.
This library helps electrical engineers and drafters understand concepts found in single line diagrams, schematics and general arrangements. It is built from independently authored explanations and public primary references.
What the entries provide
Each entry identifies a concept, explains its drawing context, highlights important distinctions and links to the supporting standards or manufacturer resources. Function numbers, equipment tags, CAD library names and graphical-symbol identifiers are different systems and are labelled accordingly.
Confidential work stays private
Customer drawings, company block libraries, project-specific circuits, dimensions, layouts and other confidential files are not used as public catalogue assets. An entry must be supportable from independent external references. Public exports contain only the public editorial catalogue and original artwork.
Original illustrations, not certified standard graphics
The previews and their SVG/DXF downloads were drawn independently by Elora Grid. They explain concepts; they are not official IEC or IEEE graphics, standards-certified symbol libraries, manufacturer footprints or construction drawings. Exact conformity to a standard identifier has not been certified.
GA envelopes are not to scale and include no manufacturer dimensions or installation clearances. DXF geometry uses unscaled drawing units. Use the applicable standard, drawing legend and selected product documentation for engineering deliverables.
Original artwork licence
The original educational illustrations are offered under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International. Credit Elora Grid, link to the relevant entry and licence, and identify modifications. This licence applies to the original artwork; it grants no rights to third-party publications or assets.
Attribution example: “Illustration: Elora Grid, [entry title and URL], CC BY 4.0. Modified as described.”
Standards and manufacturer content
Third-party resources are linked rather than reproduced. Access conditions and reuse terms belong to their publishers. IEC distinguishes using symbols in engineering work from reproduction of its publications and substantial database replication. A standards subscription alone is not a public redistribution licence.
Review and corrections
Entry meanings and reference identifiers have been editorially checked against the linked public sources. Independent engineering approval, complete standards conformity and product-specific suitability are not claimed. Each entry carries its editorial update date.
If a reference is outdated or an explanation needs correction, contact the drafting team with the entry URL and supporting public reference.
Search and machine-readable access
Search names, abbreviations, function numbers and selected public vendor identifiers. The public catalogue JSON and search response expose the same public content. Private project files and customer data are not connected to these endpoints.
