Side-by-side reference

Understand the difference.

Compare the meaning, drawing context and source references of two entries. A similar graphic or shared abbreviation does not establish equivalence.

ANSI/IEEE selector switch symbol

The two-position maintained selector form links an operator position to a defined contact state. A position/contact schedule supplies the full control meaning; the operator label alone cannot describe multiple contact blocks on the same handle.

Form evidence
Autodesk IEEE-oriented Selector Switches functional form. Autodesk explicitly publishes this block under IEEE Symbol Preview. The counterpart is the matching functional concept; no equivalence of every detailed standard graphic is asserted.

A distinction that matters

Operator positions count mechanical choices, while poles count electrical paths.

Selector switch

A selector switch provides a choice between operating positions such as local and remote or manual and automatic. Its contacts may be shown separately from the operator symbol. The contact truth table or switching schedule defines which contacts operate in each position.
