Flexible conductor

The flexible conductor mark replaces a straight run of conductor with a wave or loop to show that the connection is intended to bend in service. Typical uses are leads to hinged doors, pendant control stations, crane festoons, motor terminal boxes on resilient mounts and short links that absorb thermal movement between busbars and equipment.

A distinction that matters

A flexible conductor bends in service; a twisted-pair mark shows conductors twisted together for noise rejection and implies nothing about movement.

Twisted-pair indication

A twisted-pair indication identifies the documented association of two conductors as a twisted pair. The pair association matters to conductor identification and termination, even when the two wires are drawn apart elsewhere. It does not by itself describe the cable screen or its termination.

Twisted-pair indication. Autodesk IEC-60617 Symbol Preview — Cable identification and twisted-pair annotation; vendor family reference, not certified IEC geometry or database identifier.

A distinction that matters

Twisting and shielding are different cable attributes; a twist indication does not prove a screen is present.
