Understand the difference.

Compare the meaning, drawing context and source references of two entries. A similar graphic or shared abbreviation does not establish equivalence.

IEC NOR gate (rectangular form)

The IEC NOR element is drawn as the ≥1 OR box with a negation circle at the output. Its output is at the external 1 state only when every input is inactive, which makes it a natural way to show an all-healthy or all-clear permissive on a logic sheet.

Form evidence
≥1 rectangular element with output negation circle. Qualifying-symbol and dependency conventions as explained in TI's public overview of IEEE Std 91-1984, which incorporates IEC 617-12 work. Independent educational drawing; not certified IEC geometry or an IEC database identifier. The counterpart is the matching functional concept; no equivalence of every detailed standard graphic is asserted.

A distinction that matters

A ≥1 element without the output circle is a plain OR; the circle is the only difference.

A distinction that matters

NOR is different from NAND because the underlying input combination is OR rather than AND.
