Protected-access manual-operation qualifier

This qualifier indicates that manual access to the operating mechanism is protected or restricted. An operating mechanism may sit behind a cover or another access restriction. The qualifier draws attention to that access condition without describing the construction of the cover, lock or enclosure.

A distinction that matters

A protected-access indication does not specify a keyed lock, enclosure rating or permission system by itself.

Relay coil

A relay coil represents an operating element that changes the state of associated contacts when the device operates. Coil and contact representations are often drawn in different locations to make the circuit easier to read. Their shared identifier and cross-references establish the relationship.

A distinction that matters

A relay coil is not a contactor power pole. Similar operating-element marks can represent equipment with different switching duties.
