General arrangements

A GA object is not a manufacturer footprint

Move from a generic arrangement concept to the exact product drawing, with the correct views, interfaces and document revision.

Define the object boundary

A generic GA object identifies an equipment concept and helps organise an arrangement study. A manufacturer footprint describes a selected product or configuration. A switchgear cabinet, PCS cabinet or battery cabinet can have different equipment boundaries between suppliers and systems.

Before placing an object as actual equipment, identify the manufacturer, model and configuration that it represents. An envelope labelled BESS is not enough to establish whether it contains storage, conversion, control or a complete system.

Obtain the appropriate official drawing

Official manufacturer CAD directories provide a route to product-specific resources. Schneider Electric publishes CAD and BIM discovery tools; Eaton provides CAD/BIM resources for cable-support systems. Select the exact equipment and read the publisher's download terms.

Record the document identity and revision alongside the product reference. An older model or different configuration can be similar in appearance while having different dimensions or connection interfaces.

Separate envelope, interface and access information

The equipment outline, connection interfaces and installation or access requirements are different pieces of information. Read plan and elevation views together and identify which requirements come from the product documentation and which belong to the engineered arrangement.

Do not infer clearances, cable entries, maintenance envelopes or fabrication sizes from a generic rectangle. When a value is unresolved, record it as unresolved instead of assigning a plausible number.

Keep the public resource independent

The GA illustrations in this library are original, unscaled concepts. Their SVG and DXF downloads provide no manufacturer dimensions. They connect a searchable equipment concept to the external product information needed for detailed drafting.

Public availability and redistribution permission are separate questions. The library links manufacturer resources; it does not rehost product files or publish customer arrangements.
