What it represents

A transformer envelope connects a GA placement to a selected transformer and its manufacturer drawing. The physical information can include connection locations, accessories and maintenance or installation requirements, all of which depend on the product and application.

The original envelope illustration is unscaled and has no manufacturer dimensions. Follow the cited public resources to the exact product, then use its current drawing and installation information for engineering work.

How to read it

  • Distinguish the equipment envelope from any separately documented access area.
  • Use the actual manufacturer view and reference orientation.

Information to show or reference

  • Reference the selected transformer GA.
  • Identify connection interfaces and accessories.
  • Link ratings to the equipment schedule.

A distinction that matters

An SLD transformer symbol is not a scaled footprint. A generic envelope has no model-specific dimensions.

About this graphic

This illustration was authored independently by Elora Grid to explain the concept. It is not reproduced from a customer drawing, an official standard graphic or a manufacturer CAD file. Its correspondence to an exact IEC or IEEE symbol identifier has not been certified.

SVG and DXF downloads contain this original artwork. DXF uses unscaled drawing units; a GA envelope supplies no product dimensions, clearances or fabrication information. Original artwork is available under CC BY 4.0. Third-party references retain their own terms.
