Generator package
A generic generating-package envelope linked to official equipment and installation drawings.
An electrical generating source represented in a power-system drawing.
A generator representation identifies an electrical source in a power system. Its electrical connections and associated switching describe how it supplies the system. The equipment documentation establishes machine type, rating, voltage, earthing and operating capabilities.
Generator systems can also include transfer controls, synchronising, protection and paralleling equipment. These functions should be identified separately rather than compressed into a single generic generator mark. A GA drawing provides the physical package and interface information.
A generator symbol identifies an electrical source. It does not establish permission to parallel with another source or define the transfer sequence.

This illustration was authored independently by Elora Grid to explain the concept. It is not reproduced from a customer drawing, an official standard graphic or a manufacturer CAD file. Its correspondence to an exact IEC or IEEE symbol identifier has not been certified.
SVG and DXF downloads contain this original artwork. DXF uses unscaled drawing units; a GA envelope supplies no product dimensions, clearances or fabrication information. Original artwork is available under CC BY 4.0. Third-party references retain their own terms.
