What it represents

A gas-flow qualifier identifies operation responding to gas movement. Gas-flow actuation identifies the moving-gas condition used by the device. It is not equivalent to a static pressure condition, even where both participate in one ventilation or process sequence.

Document the monitored path and the resulting electrical input. A separate description is needed for any alarm delay, operating threshold or fan permissive.

How to read it

  • Distinguish the gas process from any adjacent liquid-flow or pressure measurement.
  • Gas flow and gas pressure are different process quantities.

Information to show or reference

  • Identify the associated device, circuit or diagram boundary.
  • Distinguish the gas process from any adjacent liquid-flow or pressure measurement.
  • Cross-reference the equipment data, terminal mapping or operating-state legend needed to interpret the form.

A distinction that matters

Gas flow and gas pressure are different process quantities.
