What it represents

A handwheel qualifier identifies an operating mechanism moved by a wheel. A handwheel can change a mechanism position or adjust an associated element. The qualifier describes that manual interface, not a particular electrical output characteristic.

For an adjustment function, identify the controlled quantity and any position indication separately. For switching, retain the contact diagram and position table.

How to read it

  • Keep the wheel indication tied to the operated mechanism and its position description.
  • A wheel-actuated device can regulate or switch; the associated function must be stated.

Information to show or reference

  • Identify the associated device, circuit or diagram boundary.
  • Keep the wheel indication tied to the operated mechanism and its position description.
  • Cross-reference the equipment data, terminal mapping or operating-state legend needed to interpret the form.

A distinction that matters

A wheel-actuated device can regulate or switch; the associated function must be stated.
