What it represents

An optical isolation component using an input light emitter and a transistor output on the isolated side.

On a schematic, identify the emitter current circuit, output collector/emitter and isolation boundary and trace the isolated input status or feedback path. Keep the component tag and signal/reference names consistent across the control drawing, terminal schedule and device documentation.

Optical isolation separates electrical domains; the current-transfer behaviour and output polarity are component-specific.

The preview is an independently drawn educational functional reference. Add the selected component’s actual power pins, terminal numbers, timing or analogue reference details when producing a construction drawing.

How to read it

  • Identify the emitter current circuit, output collector/emitter and isolation boundary.
  • Trace the isolated input status or feedback path.

Information to show or reference

  • Label the emitter current circuit, output collector/emitter and isolation boundary.
  • Cross-reference the isolated input status or feedback path.
  • Add the selected device or circuit documentation revision, power/reference connections and project signal convention.

A distinction that matters

Optical isolation separates electrical domains; the current-transfer behaviour and output polarity are component-specific.
