What this block does

Identifies the connection from the station DC distribution to the switchroom control system.

A simple example

In a switchroom, the station battery can continue supplying protection and breaker controls during an AC supply interruption. The alarm system should distinguish charger loss from a low battery condition. For this reference, the drawing identifies “Station DC feeder” at the input and “Room DC distribution” at the output. The feeder boundary differs from the battery boundary.

What the drawings help you do

Start at the named input: Station DC feeder. Identify its source device or document and the state represented on the drawing. Follow the named output: Room DC distribution. Cross-reference its destination and separate the command from confirmation that the equipment responded.

What it represents

Identifies the connection from the station DC distribution to the switchroom control system. A room DC interface connects station battery distribution, alarm contacts and operating circuits. DC supplies may remain energized when the room's normal AC supply is unavailable, so their source and distribution boundaries must be shown separately.

The feeder boundary differs from the battery boundary.

Identify the DC source, returns and monitored branches. Do not infer battery autonomy, conductor polarity, isolation or earthing arrangements from a generic power block. The functional block is an independent explanation of this named application. Equipment-specific ratings, terminal connections and operating conditions must be established in the project documentation.

How to read it

  • Start at the named input: Station DC feeder. Identify its source device or document and the state represented on the drawing.
  • Follow the named output: Room DC distribution. Cross-reference its destination and separate the command from confirmation that the equipment responded.

  • Identify the DC source, returns and monitored branches. Do not infer battery autonomy, conductor polarity, isolation or earthing arrangements from a generic power block.

Information to show or reference

  • Label the source and connection reference for station dc feeder.
  • Identify the destination and defined state of room dc distribution.
  • Record the equipment or control-document revision supporting this functional block.
  • Check this application limit in the project design: The feeder boundary differs from the battery boundary.

A distinction that matters

The feeder boundary differs from the battery boundary. This reference describes the named application; it does not establish a new IEC graphical symbol, an ANSI device-function number or an exact manufacturer connection diagram.
