Normally open contact
A contact shown open in the normal state defined for its device.
A visual indicator associated with a documented control or equipment condition.
An indicator lamp shows an operating condition defined by its circuit and label. The generic representation identifies an indicating element; it does not define what illumination means, the supply voltage or whether the device is continuously lit or flashing.
A schematic should explain the condition driving the indication. The front-panel description should match the electrical label, so a reviewer can follow the indication from operator interface to contact, relay or controller output.
An indication mark does not establish that equipment is safe, isolated or de-energised. Its meaning comes from the full circuit and operating documentation.
