Supply voltage supervisor

In plain English

What does Supply voltage supervisor mean?

A voltage supervisor checks a supply against specified conditions and produces a status or reset signal.

A simple example

A controller can be held in reset until its monitored supply reaches the required condition.

Original functional explanation. Arrows show information or energy roles; two-headed arrows identify two-way interfaces. This is not a pinout, certified standards graphic or complete circuit.

What the drawings help you do

Connect the monitored rail to the supervisor’s sensing input and label the reset or status output separately. A supervisor checks supply conditions; it does not necessarily regulate the supply itself. Show the output’s destination and the selected assertion/release behaviour.

Reset
A signal placing the receiving device in its specified starting condition.
Assertion
The transition into a signal’s defined active state.

Before using this reference

  • Identify the monitored rail and sensing reference.
  • Label reset or status output and its destination.
  • Reference threshold, delay and output electrical behaviour.
Does the supervisor maintain the supply voltage?

A supervisor assesses a condition and reports or acts on it. The regulator or source maintaining the voltage is a separate function unless the chosen equipment explicitly combines them.

A distinction that matters

A supervisor reports or acts on a condition; it is not necessarily the regulator maintaining the voltage.
